HP on Etsy

Omg check this bad boy out.  It already sold of course because it's awesome. Etsy comes through again

It was only $3.88.  If I was selling this I would charge like $50 at least.  People's creativity never ceases to amaze me.

While we are talking about HP, I will agree with my sister that the movie was amazing of course.  Very overwhelming, there was a lot of storyline thrown in there.  It was extremely intense and we all felt like we had been hit by a train when we walked out.  I don't think any movie has ever kept me so focused throughout the entire thing.  Crazy.

Enjoy Etsy and HP for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

R.I.P. Harry Potter

I sat unblinking, unmoving, with my heart beating and my hands on the sides of my face the entire movie.
I have bloodshot eyes, a massive headache and feel like I just had the most stressful day of my life. And it was only 2 hours and change.

It was that epic. Epic, that's the word. It was epic.

I know I will never experience a movie watching experience like that again. But I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to live it.

It's so amazing that a story, just something someone created in their mind has so completely altered my life. And that amazing story, how it was created into amazing movies with extraordinary movie making and the perfect cast. It's the perfect combination.

Thank you J.K. Rowling for what you have given an entire generation. You have forever changed our lives for the better and we are all so thankful to you for creating such an amazing story that lives in our hearts.

Thank you Warner Bros. for doing J.K's story justice and creating films that bring these words into reality.

The best word I can use to describe how I am feeling right now is moved. Harry Potter is a story with hero's and villains, the fight to find the best in people, and the never ending fight for the greater good.

The story has touched me. Not only does the story touch me, but I feel like it grew up with me. Alongside me. It was always there through the years. I think that's why it has so deeply touched me. There is so much too it, but in the end I feel like it's an old friend, a dear old friend.

Oddly enough I don't feel sad. I'm not mourning the loss. Because I don't feel like I lost anything. I feel fulfilled. Like I actually watched someone else grow up alongside me and I have come full circle and seen their happy ending.

I know there are many people around my age that feel the same way I do. And I know there are still many others who didn't have this experience and don't feel this connection with the story. They may look at us funny or make fun of us for getting so worked up over a story. But you see they don't understand what they've missed out on so they could never truly understand. And they could maybe never understand even if they tried. Because you see it's more than a story to us, it was an evolution of a story that also became intertwined in our own lives from childhood to adulthood.

Farewell Harry Potter, and Thank You.

It All Ends Here

As my big sis already told you, we got our tickets.  Holy smokes people, I can't believe this is it.  It hadn't really hit me until I started typing this post that this was the end.  The Harry Potter phenomenon has been such a huge part of our childhood/ young adulthood that the idea that it is over is extremely sad.  I totally agree with Riz that J.K. Rowling is responsible for our love of reading.  Her books are such an incredible inspiration and a constant challenge to use your imagination and creativity at any age.  The world she created through her books and then the films has become so second nature to us.  I am so upset that tomorrow night we will be saying goodbye to all of those adventures we got to live out through the books.

No more Hogwarts, no Platform 9 3/4, no Dobby, no trio of best friends,  and no hysterical twin older brothers.

No mother will ever be as endearing as Mrs. Weasley.
No teacher will ever be as stern yet kind hearted as Professor McGonagall
No antagonist will ever be as menacing as Voldemort.
No character will ever be as extraordinary as Dumbledore.
And no protagonist will ever be as legendary as Harry Potter.

So this is an ode to Harry Potter I guess.  I can only hope that it will be as magical and important to my kids as it was to me.

And thank you kitty, for standing in line at all hours of the night spending double the money on these books (they weren't cheap when they first came out), just so both my sister and I could read them together at the same time right when they came out.

Au revoir Harry Potter.  You will be missed.

It's Official

We are in. In as in Harry Potter midnight showing on Thursday night. Can I get a BOO YA! We first went to the theater closest to Lyd and all 8 (!) midnight show times were sold out. I really wonder what kind of records this movie is going to break. Epic.

Then we decided to go to this arts theater in a high class mall near us that normally only shows special films. Walla! They only had one showing at midnight and they weren't sold out yet. We hit the jackpot.

After that Lyddy and I did a bit of window shopping. Starting with Nordstrom's. Gotta love Nordstrom's. Nicer than Macy's but not as fancy shmancy as Saks. Not saying that we shop there because we really don't. We're more F21/Target gals, but we do go there for the random thing you can only find at Nordstrom's, such as Hunter rainboots.

I am dying for a pair. I love rainboots. But I always think they look a little clunky and childish. All the ones I have bought have been t e r r i b l e. I swore they leaked and then low and behold they do. Need a cold anyone? Ya just strap on a pair of rainboots that leak and walk around campus for hours with wet socks. Fun.

So I have been dying for a legit pair that's stylish and can be worn in the snow. I'm sick of f-uggs being my only option in the winter because I hate to ruin my other shoes. Bring on the Hunters baby. Never mind Alys Fowler wears her original greens ones almost constantly in her garden, so naturally we must match her, duh.

Of course Lyddy refused to try anything on, even though they were only shoes, but I didn't push her, we were only window shopping.

Next stop (well there were more in between but not worthy of posting about), Anthropologie. By the way, lil sis has a great eye and great taste and doesn't give herself any credit. She was picking out uber cute stuff, and she has been relying on me for her fashion sense for years?!!? She had one the whole time! Jeez Louise.

Anyway, super cute stuff! I haven't really spent much time in there because if I was going to buy anything in that store it would be off the sale rack and that's the only place people actually shop in that store, it's always a cluster.

Case in point. Lyddy would call out to me from a little ways away holding up a garment or something for my judgement. Then of course I would say it's cute/adorable/etc. (great taste this girl!) and then she would proceed to look at the price tag... "Ya nice for 88 DOLLARS!!!" Or something to that effect. I love my lil sis. She brings everyone back to reality. Honestly even when the day comes when she could easily afford that 88 dollar sweater, she still wouldn't buy it. Why? Because she could make it and she sees things for how much they're worth. She would spend that money if she really thought it was worth that much money, but only then, and only if she had plenty of money hanging around with no better place for it, which I doubt would happen. Not a compulsive buyer this one. It's one of the many things I love about her.

Thanks for a wonderful day Lyddy! Dare to be yourself and wear the clothes you like, don't be intimidated by things because you don't think you could pull them off. Just own it girl.

PS: Omg I was on a blog the other day, I think Cozy Kitchen (the links on the left), and she said the funniest thing. She was like my life's crazy busy stressful yadda yadda. Then she proceeded to say, "and Teresa's money problems stress me out (why?!?)." Hilarious. We love the housewives, we're big NJ fans too. I just caught myself up on NY and NJ tonight.

Can we also get a cheers to Flipping Out starting again! Seriously probably my favorite show hands down of all time TV watching history. Maybe even a hair over Bethenny. Hilarious. Every person on that show is hilarious and I love Jeff. His disfunctionalness is hysterical and the fact that he can be an ass but also has a heart just always gets me. HUGE fan. The whole fam is. We absolutely love that show. Can't say enough about it. Zoila is probably our fav. Or Jenny. Or Jeff. Love them all!

It might just happen

I may just be a blubbering idiot after leaving Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 next week.

I just came across a bunch of videos on youtube interviewing the main cast members about the end of Harry Potter. So I proceeded to watch every one. And got sadder and sadder.

Those books have been such a huge part of our lives. I have been reading them since elementary school! And I can honestly say JK Rowling has changed my life, she is the reason why I love reading. And this last movie really means its all over. No more stories, no more movies, nothing. The end.

So that leads me to this post. I was trying to picture what it would be like leaving that theater next week and I just know it won't be pretty. I read the the last book the second it came out (of course) a couple of years ago and for some reason I am having a hard time remembering exactly what happened. But I remember exactly what the last couple of pages are like, and that on top of the nostalgia factor, nope definitely an ugly scene. I just hope I make it to the car.

I'll have to do an RIP HP post next week. I can't bring myself to it yet. I still have a few more days!
:( Seriously want to cry already.

I'll end this by saying that JK Rowling is the best author there ever will be and the movies totally stood up to the challenge of recreating her imagination and they are equally amazing.

Now go watch the trailer. It gave me the chills.

Riz

PS: Sorry for the depressing post, there must be others out there that are feeling my pain. But to cheer you up.

Cuddle bugs! I can't believe Lucy allowed it and you can't really tell but Den is like on top of her. So cute. There is nothing cuter than when our puppies are snoozin.

PSS: I hope Papa Bear holds up on his promise to get all of us out to Universal for Halloween to go see Hogwarts. Yep almost 23 year old, 21 year old, 18 year old, and their parents rarin to go see the Harry Potter theme park. Boo ya.
